High School Shadowing Policy

Students must legibly complete the Shadowing Questionnaire prior to and after the shadowing date (for each school they shadow) and parents must also complete and sign the Study Trip Permission form. These forms must be picked up and the permission form must be turned in to the office at least three days prior to the shadow date. We ask that you do these things in order to meet state ADA requirements.

Please understand that shadowing at a high school is NOT a right of passage. It is an opportunity for students who are not sure of where they may want to go to school to see what schools have to offer in the way of academics, athletics and other co-curricular activities. It is a serious opportunity that can help you to decide where you want to spend the next four years of your academic lives. Below is a list of the four public high schools in the Sequoia High School District. Parents should make shadowing arrangements utilizing the following information for these schools:

Sequoia High School – Shadowing opportunities are available on Mondays beginning now. Please email the Instructional Vice Principal, Mrs. Bonnie Hansen. If you do not have access to email, please call 650-369-1411 extension 8785 and leave a message. The attached handout details the information that you must provide when scheduling an appointment. Please read the information carefully before attempting to schedule your appointment.

Carlmont High School – The school will begin taking requests for shadowing dates on October 23. To expedite this process, we have included a Shadowing Fax Back Request Form. You may also contact 650-595-0210 extension 8400 to leave a message. Shadowing at Carlmont does not begin until November 3.

Menlo Atherton High School – Contact the school at 650-322-5311 ext. 5125

Woodside High School – Contact the school at 650-367-9750 ext. 4325

Students may also choose to shadow at any of the private schools in the area that offer such opportunities. We do not have information about when these activities begin in the private schools. You should contact the schools directly.
